As a plant operator, each day can be very different, but one variable always stays the same — safety. To Jamie Heinz, plant operator at Koch Fertilizer Dodge City, safety is something to constantly observe.
Jamie has worked at the plant for almost 15 years. He is responsible for operating the plant control boards, writing permits as well as performing inspections and walk-throughs — an essential safety review prior to beginning work.
During a walk-through for upcoming air compressor maintenance, Jamie noticed a blind was needed to secure the work area. He had the blind installed before work began, providing a safe environment for the team.
“Safety is the most important part of my job,” Jamie said. “I contribute as much as I can to Koch’s safety culture and gain fulfillment from doing so. I enjoy my coworkers, and they motivate me to maintain a safe work environment.”
When Jamie is away from the plant, you can find him spending time with his family or hunting.
Thank you, Jamie, for your actions to ensure safety across the workplace, and congratulations on being selected as our Passion to Protect Moment of the Month!
