Five Koch Fertilizer Plants Earn 2025 ENERGY STAR® Certification

Koch Fertilizer’s Enid, Oklahoma; Wever, Iowa; Fort Dodge, Iowa; Beatrice, Nebraska; and Brandon, Manitoba plants all achieved 2025 certification for energy efficiency.

Together, these five facilities have earned a combined 25 ENERGY STAR® certifications since 2019.

At Koch Fertilizer, environmental stewardship means managing our operations and resources in ways that respect people and the environment while constantly looking for ways to improve.

We take a long-term view of responsible stewardship, which means small things can add up big-time over the long run — like the daily commitment to use energy responsibly, and the day-to-day work done by our operations, maintenance and engineering teams to continuously find ways to increase reliability and improve operations.

According to Koch Fertilizer Beatrice Plant Manager Jason Stowell, this accomplishment reflects the dedication, teamwork and commitment of our people more than anything else.

"This recognition is the result of a team committed to safe, reliable and efficient operations, while never losing sight of our responsibility to use resources wisely,” Jason said. “Achieving this level of performance requires strong site ownership, disciplined execution and a culture that values both operational excellence and environmental stewardship.”

Ev Shishkin, plant manager at Koch Fertilizer Wever, said ENERGY STAR® certification isn't just about meeting benchmarks — it’s about taking stewardship seriously in practical, measurable ways.

“ENERGY STAR® certification reflects a commitment to using energy responsibly, improving efficiency year over year and operating with operational discipline,” Ev said.

“We focus on reducing waste, improving reliability and investing in upgrades that help us produce essential products while being mindful of our footprint. The work is ongoing, and we view it as part of being a responsible neighbor and employer in our communities.”

These certifications demonstrate Koch Fertilizer’s focus on meaningful results — empowering individuals to strive to use fewer resources, reduce waste and improve how we operate. They are a testament to the consistent effort and commitment of our people, day in and day out.

The ENERGY STAR® program recognizes facilities that rank in the top 25% for energy efficiency compared to industry benchmarks set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Natural Resources Canada. It’s awarded to those that meet strict energy performance standards and demonstrate responsible energy management.
