International Women's Day 2025: Neki Yeager

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible women who make an impact every day with their dedication, expertise and leadership. The details of their career journeys are different, but their daily motivations share a lot of common ground. They’re driving innovation, creating value and, most importantly, enjoying every minute of it.

After working with Koch as a consultant for five years, Neki Yeager was offered a role as a permanent employee in 2015 — she hasn’t looked back since.

“When I started with Koch in a temporary contract role in 2010 at the Sterlington, Louisiana terminal, I never imagined the incredible opportunities I would be afforded,” Neki said. “I knew very little about the company, but from day one I connected well with the team.”

Neki’s potential was quickly recognized by those around her. Over time, she took on increasing responsibilities and, when the compliance manager position became available in 2015, she was offered the role.

After three years as the south area compliance administrator in Sterlington, Neki transitioned to the Taft, Louisiana terminal in 2018. Shortly after, in 2019, she added document control support for the St. James terminal to her role. In 2022, her responsibilities expanded again, this time adding transportation leader for Koch Ag & Energy Solutions to the mix. According to Neki, these milestone moments are just a handful of the highlights: “My career at Koch has been so much more than I can sum up with role and title changes.”

The evolution of her role has allowed Neki the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally and continue moving towards achieving her full potential — especially in situations that have stretched her beyond what’s comfortable. An example is when she was offered the opportunity to step into the Koch Ag & Energy Solutions transportation role, which she wasn’t convinced was a great fit.

“At first, I was hesitant to take on the responsibilities because I had very little experience in transportation compliance,” Neki said. “However, with the support of knowledgeable colleagues and mentors, I made the transition.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. With encouragement from my supervisor, I embraced the challenge, and nearly three years later, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity. Over the past few years, I have gained extensive knowledge — not only about my own growth potential but also about the value of the relationships I have built along the way.”

Neki’s role isn’t the only thing constantly evolving. Transportation compliance is always changing, so she makes it a priority to continually learn by expanding her network and connecting with experts in different areas whenever possible.

“Hazmat transportation is fascinating,” Neki said. “We ship products and materials worldwide using multiple modes of transport. Whether I’m visiting a plant, attending a seminar or participating in a training event, I seek out individuals with specialized knowledge and absorb as much as I can from them. I am never shy about asking someone to teach me something new. It works — try it!”

Driven by a strong desire to serve others, Neki finds fulfillment in supporting those around her and fostering a positive work environment. She considers a good attitude, the willingness to serve and being surrounded by great people as keys to her success.

“The people I work with and support are the best part of my job. I absolutely love what I do! While my role can be challenging, I am fortunate to have a strong support system. I have had the opportunity to visit various Koch plants and terminals, and at every location, I have met incredible individuals.”

Reflecting on her journey so far — the successes she’s enjoyed and the challenges she’s embraced — Neki has the following career advice to offer.

“Whether it’s my field or any other career, don’t be afraid to fail,” Neki said. “Failure teaches valuable lessons. Always be willing to help others along the way.

When challenges arise, remind yourself that you can endure anything for a short period of time. That perseverance will take you where you want to go. Most importantly, define success on your own terms. My role has evolved significantly, from being a helper to becoming a leader. Specifically, within Koch, the opportunities are endless — all you need is the drive to pursue them.”

With each step of her career, Neki’s story exemplifies the power of embracing change, the importance of lifelong learning and the impact of building strong relationships — demonstrating that with the right mindset and determination, anything is achievable.
